The Ovechkin/Barkley Thornton/Ewing comparisons are on point as hell. I like the Johnny Hockey casting for Bogues a lot as well but there's a valid argument to be made here for Kane. Almost just as small and more star power than JH. I'd still prefer JH though solely on the bases I just do not like Kane.

I think you're giving Sean Bradley too much credit by giving him Tyler Meyers and think Meyers is a better comparison for Johnson actually. Let's give Sean Bradley John Scott and call it a day. Scott's obviously not nearly as soft as Bradley was but I think the general hight, suckatude, and the why the (frank) is this guy in this movie factor would more than make up for it. Just imagine John Scott in hockey space jam. So much goddamn fun.

Also this game won't be nearly as close as the original Space Jam because Gossamer will be impossible to score on in net.

If not Murray himself, Jason Sudeikis or Chris Pratt for his role. Replace Wayne Knight with Jonah Hill.

Actually the 1st name that came to my mind after Murray himself doing it was Jim Belushi, he's a huge hockey fan similar to how Murray was a huge basketball fan and I think his comedic stylings would fit perfectly paired with Mario.

Will Ferrell also came to mind but I'm not a fan of him at all but an off the wall suggestion if they made it more of a modern adult cartoon would be Dennis Leary. He's also a huge hockey fan and I think he would be hilarious in that role for an R-rated Space Jam.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot about Jim Carey who actually played hockey growing up, I seem to remember an interview where he talked about leading the team in penalty minutes as a goalie. I could see him playing the goalie and just hacking the crap out of everyone in his pet detective persona.

If you're going to go with Jim Belushi you might as well go with Murray himself. He's the poor man's Murray and they're the same age basically. The only reason I see not to go with Bill Murray himself is to get younger. Sudeikis and to a lesser extent Pratt are the only two younger actors today that I think can maybe pull off a Bill Murray type roll. I like Will Ferrell, at least his earlier stuff, but I think he's a totally different type of funny than Murray.

I look at from the aspect of their connection to the sport, Murray is a well known basketball(Lakers) fan but not so much as a hockey fan, the reason I liked Belushi in the role is because he's a poor man's Murray but he has the connection to the sport that Murray doesn't have. The more I thought about it, the more I fell in love with the idea of Jim Carey playing the role and being the team's goalie with a Ron Hextall meets Ace Ventura feel to it.

Wow Ryan you and your stat nerd friends really know how to party. How many blueberry daiquiris did it take to come up with this discussion? And that was the best hockey conversation you have had in awhile? The answer should have been "who f'ing cares lets go watch some girls dance my head hurts from that boredom factory we just spent the day in?"

Team NA looks straight up bad considering the Czechs aren't that good. Matt Murray turning in a very solid performance so far.

Serious question is Justin Schultz Rfa or Ufa after this year? Capfriendly has him Rfa but I assumed since he become a Ufa this year that signing a 1 year Ufa contract means he will be Ufa again next year.

Matt Murray is calder eligible next year. I think he would have a legit shot at the calder if it wasn't likely he would be splitting starts 50-50 with fleury.

Would be an interesting trivia question someday. Which player won a stanley cup before they wont he calder. Though their might be others since rosters get expanded for the playoffs. May have to specify goalie.

Did someone in the conference slip Vodka into the fruit punch? Or did Space Jam come into conversation after a few Monacos?

Was it a front row only conference or did a few bad boys have to sit down the back?
